Welcome to

Christ Church CE Primary School

Martin Van Hecke

Mr Martin Van Hecke

Executive Headteacher

Welcome to Christ Church CE Primary School in Walshaw.

At Christ Church, we pride ourselves on offering a warm and welcoming start to every child’s educational journey. Our school is a place where kindness, support, and high expectations go hand in hand, helping children to thrive both academically and personally.

We are incredibly proud of our vibrant and happy school community. Christ Church is a place where children grow into confident, considerate, and talented individuals. Our commitment to high-quality education is matched by our dedication to nurturing the whole child, working in partnership with families, and sharing the Christian faith while celebrating the diverse cultural backgrounds of all our pupils.

Our most recent Ofsted inspection (November 2022) highlighted what makes our school so special:

“Pupils are proud to attend Christ Church and parents speak very positively about the school. Leaders and staff know their pupils and families well.”

It is the strength of relationships—between staff, children, and families—that lies at the heart of our success. Our team works collaboratively to create an environment where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn. This ethos is reflected in the way children treat one another and in how our values are lived out every day.

As part of The Sycamore Trust, we embrace the motto “Grow together, learn forever.” At Christ Church, this is more than a phrase—it’s a way of life. We work closely with parents and carers to ensure every child flourishes, growing and learning together in Christ.

We hope our website gives you a glimpse into the spirit of our school and the quality of care and education we provide. Thank you for visiting us.

Warm regards,

Martin Van Hecke
Executive Headteacher
