Updated Advice to Parents regarding Covid-19

I am sure you are aware that we have now had a number of cases of Covid in school, some of which we are waiting for confirmation of through PCR tests.

It is clear that the new variant is spreading rapidly in the community, causing many school bubbles to have to self-isolate.

Please do not send your child into school if they are poorly. Particularly if they have a high temperature, persistent cough, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, headache or runny nose. Seek a PCR test for your child if they have any of these symptoms and keep school informed.

Children who are self-isolating should not come onto to the school site. If they have a sibling who you need to bring into school, please contact the office about how to do that safely.

The advice from local Public Health England for adults in the Borough of Bury are as follows:

 Get vaccinated when invited

Keep testing twice a week with rapid LFT tests even if you don't have symptoms and even if you have had one or two doses of the vaccine, and get a PCR test if you have symptoms (LFT are not for Primary aged children)

  • Common symptoms of the new variant are sore throat, headache, runny nose

Self-isolate if positive and if eligible access the available financial support to help you do this

Work from home if you can

Be cautious when meeting others who are not in your household

 Minimise travel

These are challenging times, as we have remained Covid-free in school for such a long time, clearly the new variant is prolific at the moment with the situation rapidly changing.

Thank you for your continuing support in keeping our school family safe and well,

Mrs S Howard
