I have been Deputy Head Teacher at Christ Church since April 2013. I joined the school to work part-time after the birth of my daughter in September 1995. I became full-time in 2001 and have taught in a variety of year groups since. I have enjoyed taking the role of PPA teacher, which gave me an opportunity to work with all ages of children. I have also worked successfully alongside other members of staff. My experience as a classroom teacher, working with such a supportive team and wonderful children has been extremely rewarding.
I became Head of KS2, then attained the post of Assistant Head whilst still classroom based in the Upper Juniors. In May 2012, I was asked to be Acting Deputy Head. I found I enjoyed the challenge, variety and new opportunities presented by the role and proved myself successful in it, so I decided to apply for the post in April 2013 and was proud to be awarded the job! Since then, I have been involved in the further development of our school, such as the establishment of our Teaching School and am very grateful for the opportunities I have been offered- throughout my time at Christ Church and as Deputy Head- and the encouragement I have received to keep moving forward, challenge myself and improve.
I have been married for 27 years to David and have two great children. Megan, 21, who is studying Zoology at Leeds University and Daniel, 18, who is taking A’ levels at Bury College. I take part in the Bury Community Choir, Zumba (not at the same time!) and I enjoy walking, swimming and reading. I have just started a vegetable garden! Courgettes are my first successful crop!
In February 2015, Dave and I experienced an amazing holiday in Norway, where we were lucky enough to see the spectacular Northern Lights, on a number of occasions, in all their awe-inspiring beauty!
Before becoming an Associate Member of the Governing Body as Deputy, I was the Teacher Governor for a number of years.
